How important are clean waterways and clean woods to you?

About One Piece A Day
One Piece A Day started as an act of selfless environmental stewardship by our founder and popular fishing personality, Carter Andrews. Carter made a public pledge to pick up trash wherever he saw it each day and encouraged others to do the same through his social media influence and network of personal brand partnerships. The movement quickly gained popularity in his follower base and soon a community of individuals making the pledge to pick up ‘One Piece A Day’ was formed.
At One Piece A Day, we aim to take this movement beyond the scope of the fishing world and create a global community of individuals and organizations committed to a world free of plastic pollution and its harmful effects on humans, wildlife and our natural spaces.
Community of Purpose
We understand the power in numbers and the greater impact of consistency of small contributions. If only 1% of the population of the United States were to pick up only one piece of trash each day, we would remove 1,217,494,000 pieces of trash from our environment each year. On a global scale, if 1% of the population picked up one piece a day, we would remove 28,470,000,000 pieces each year. We strive to create a global community of purpose with the common goal of ridding our world of plastic litter. This community’s success will depend on three pillars, Scale, Engagement and Collective Capability.
Awareness Campaign
Our first pillar of success relies on our ability to expand our community and reach as many people as possible. To do so, we will launch an aggressive media campaign. We will use a network of influencers and brand partnerships to encourage individuals to pick up one piece of trash a day and post to their preferred social media platform with the hashtag #OnePieceADay, encouraging others to do the same. We aim to engage 3 million people each year. At this rate, we will reach the equivalent of 1% of the US population by the end of the year and help us to grow exponentially into the future.
Public access signage
We plan to work with regional parks and recreation departments in order to place branded signage at high traffic public access areas such as beaches, parks and boat ramps. The goal of these signs will be to increase engagement in One Piece A Day cleanup activities and raise awareness on proper etiquette and trash disposal practices.
Direct Action Cleanups
We will use our platform to organize localized beach cleanups. This will serve to further our goal of a litter free environment as well as increase engagement and awareness in targeted areas. Funds will be allocated for litter removal supplies and event planning.
Incentivized Engagement
There are zero barriers to entry into the One Piece A Day community. Anybody can pick up and dispose of at least one piece of trash a day with almost no effort or negative effect. The only thing stopping people is their mindset and lack of attention to the issue. In order to ensure a high level of engagement from our members, we will incentivize through sponsored product giveaways, and celebrity influence.
Product Giveaways
We will leverage our partnerships to receive product sponsorships for giveaways. Our giveaways will take place through our social media. Criteria will be established for giveaway consideration and we will chose winners based on the completion of the given criteria.
Celebrity Influence
In order to alter the stigma around picking up trash, we will engage celebrity influencers to join our community and share their engagement with their followers. We want to make picking up trash cool and something to be proud of. If your favorite celebrity can pick up one piece a day, why can’t you?
